When selling your home, details matter. While remodeling your home may not be realistic for you before listing it for sale, some simple interior staging can go a long way in creating a positive first impression. Read on for 6 easy suggestions for staging your home to sell quickly, taken from some of our recent home listings – some of which went under contract in just a couple days!
CURATE YOUR KITCHEN
Many home buyers consider kitchens to be the most important room in a house. Ensure your kitchen is in tip top shape for photos and all showings. Remove all unnecessary appliances and ensure the sink and counters are clear from clutter. Add colorful points of interest such as a bowl of fruit, a kettle, or some decorative towels.
CLEAN UP YOUR CLOSETS
A tidy, well-organized bedroom closet, pantry, or linen closet creates an impression of space that will resonate with potential home buyers. If your current closet is overstuffed, buyers may feel that the home doesn’t have ample storage. Consider packing up unused items like books, off-season clothing, and formal wear to keep in storage until you move. The more you pack up now, the less you have to do later!
STAGE YOUR SHELVES
If your home has built-in bookcases, show them off with some simple staging! Rather than packing bookshelves to the brim, select a handful of color-coordinated, hardback books to arrange on shelves, and include a few knick-knacks as well. Put the rest in storage.
LIMIT YOUR LINENS
Excessive linens, towels, and throw pillows can be distracting for potential buyers. Beds should be tidy and made up with simple, tasteful linens. Extra – and especially used – towels should be removed from all bathrooms. If a room features a novelty shower curtain or a cartoon-themed comforter, consider replacing them with a more neutral option.
PRESENT YOUR PLANTS
A few healthy plants create a welcoming impression and can go a long way in brightening a boring space, indoors and out! Accessorize your mantle, dining room table, or bathroom counter with a few plants for some color, or consider a trendy hanging garden as an accent wall. Don’t have a green thumb? Use fake plants. Don’t worry – we won’t tell!
KEEP UP YOUR CURB APPEAL
Especially in summer months, you can easily make a good first impression by keeping the front facade of your home in tip top shape. Keep grass trimmed, bushes tidy, and consider adding a few potted plants for a pop of color!
