Preparing TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR HOME
Interior
- Entire home must be organized and tidy
- Vacuum, mop, dust, wash windows
- De-clutter and put away personal items
- Remove pet food bowls and toys, conceal beds/crates, and keep pets out of sight
- Remove personal photographs or decor
- Rearrange furniture to make rooms look as large as possible
Exterior
- Remove vehicles from driveway
- Store trash containers and close garage doors
- Cut grass and do general yard cleanup
- Remove unused flower containers
- Hoses, garden tools, and small toys should be neatly stored
- Sweep walkways, patios/porches/decks
- Remove snow in winter If in season, open umbrellas and remove grill covers
Kitchen
- Remove excessive small appliances from counters (1-2 are fine)
- Remove clutter and papers from counters
- Clear posted items, lists, photos, magnets and calendars from the refrigerator
- Sink should be empty with soaps and sponges out of view
Bedrooms
- Make all the beds and check bed cover length as well as bed skirts
- Remove excessive mismatching pillows and stuffed animals from beds
- Items stored under bed should not be visible from the doorway
- Jewelry and other valuables should be out of view
Windows & Lighting
- Turn ON all inside lights and lamps
- Turn OFF fans
- Replace burnt out lightbulbs
- Open all curtains and blinds, even if it is a sunny day
Bathrooms
- Conceal garbage containers
- Put toilet lids down and put out a fresh roll of toilet paper
- Remove excessive shampoos and soaps from showers and tubs
- Counters should be clear of all personal items
- Display matching towels neatly
